Add Your Voice

We very much want every current or former ISCABBS user to add their voice to our project.  It's really very easy to use your phone to make a recording and send it in!

On iOS, simply record a voice memo, then use the share function to email it to me (e.tomte@gmail.com)  Based on some testing I did, it looks like if you keep it under 35 minutes the resulting file will still be small enough to email.  If your file is too big to email it to me, let me know and we can work out alternative arrangements.

On Android, download the free app "Simple Voice Recorder."

Once you have the app on your phone, make a recording and when done use the share function to email it to me (e.tomte@gmail.com)  Based on some testing I did, it looks like if you keep it under 20 minutes the resulting file will still be small enough to email.  If your file is too big to email it to me, let me know and we can work out alternative arrangements.

Don't know what to say?  Here are some prompts to help get things rolling:

  • Hi.  I'm <ISCA HANDLE>
  • When did you first discover ISCABBS?  How did that come about?
  • Why did you choose your handle?  What does it mean?
  • Have you always had the same ISCA handle?  If not, what were some of the other handles you were known by?
  • Are you a current or former user?
If current, what drew you to ISCABBS initially, and what keeps you coming back today?
If former, what drew you to ISCABBS initially, and why did you end up leaving?
  • What forums do/did you frequent on the BBS?  Which forum is/was your favorite?
  • Have you ever been an Aide, Forum Moderator, or Sysop?  What was that like?
  • How has being on ISCABBS impacted or changed your life?  How has it shaped your politics, vocation, relationships?
  • Any interesting or humorous stories about the BBS that you care to share?
  • Any regrets?
  • If there was one thing you could improve about ISCABBS, what would it be?
  • In closing, anything else you want to say?
